That's good...that's good.

Now you won't run away from home to be a musician.

My work is done here.

Yuck. Looks like Marilyn Manson, (before he started trying to be Ziggy Stardust and the kidz still gave a shit about him).

Hey I propose a 15th tip: Be A Coporate Whore. Check out this review of (bbbrrrrr) Smash Mouth's Greatest Hits album. Note all the corporate tie-ins. Bitchy review.

I found this section particularly striking due to your recent comments in the blog:

... Smash Mouth happily took the work, becoming pop culture white noise in the process ? music that was easy to tune out while still registering subconsciously. To be given so many opportunities to sell out the band had to be good enough ? good enough to sell their hooks, but not distinctive enough to cause waves....

Meow! But sadly true...

Ouch. That is really strikingly apropos. Makes the point perfectly.

There's was an Australian band called Regurgitator in the 90's. Track 1 on their first major label album: "I Sucked A Lot Of Cock To Get Where I Am".

Naturally Track 1 on their second album was called: "I Like Your Old Stuff Better Than Your New Stuff".

Great concepts and titles... Real shame about their lame music. I will give props to their Anti-Mariah Carey anthem 'I Love Tommy Mottola' though. An extract:

I was born on a wednesday
Stuffed my plums on a thursday
All this made me number one on the friday
Whoa hey hey hey

Don't you know that we'd be something together
I could be your songbird tied to a tether
And when you've got an arse looking this good in leather
We could swallow the world down whole
