All Right People HOW TH' FUCK DID WE BUILD THIS MOTHERFUCKING CITY????

We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll

Say you don't know me or recognize my face
Say you don't care who goes to that kind of place
Knee deep in the hoopla sinking in your fight
Too many runaways eating up the night

Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll

Everybody fucking sing:
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll

Someone always playing corporation games
Who cares they're always changing corporation names
We just want to dance here someone stole the stage
They call us irresponsible write us off the page

Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll

Rip this shit yo:
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll

It's just another Sunday, in a tired old street
Police have got the choke hold, oh then we just lost the beat

Who counts the money underneath the bar
Who rides the wrecking ball in two rock guitars
Don't tell us you need us, 'cos we're the ship of fools
Looking for America, coming through your schools

Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll

All right you polesmokahs HIT ME:
We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock and roll

Say Mr. Lightfoot, is the photo and accompanying lyrics some sort of anti-drug PSA addition to the Orchestra?

Reaching out to the moms and dads, I like it, I like it.

Horrible song, but i've always been peversely fascinated with five bars of the bridge that leads to the chorus, specifically: "Marconia plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember..."

Once that section starts I get it stuck in my head for days afterwards, so thanks. Maybe I should base a song around those chords.

The rest of the song is a big fat chocolate log in the toilet bowl of pop culture. With nuts.

Dear God: Please help me get this song out of my brain before I snuff it.

I think the chord progression is Em / Cmaj9 / G / D. Pretty basic meat and potatoes stuff. Can't figure out why it grabs me so much. Maybe it's the folk simplicity of the progression.

I've just realised I have absolutely no idea how the rest of the song goes, other than the chorus. It's that type of song.

BTW, the lyrics are shitful. What the hell are they on about?
