A Difficult But Necessary Operation.
It is time to draw straws, my friends. There are things to consider: who among us has the least dependents? Who has a steady hand and a keen eye? Who is unconspicuous?
Think of a decent band, say. With a lot of good players and a great singer but the bass player ruins everything. Or a family where a wretched and loudmouthed child sets the tone for every interaction. And when the audience or th' neighbors think of this band or family all they can think about is the wretched little egotist.
Who is brave? Who is mature and sober enough to realize that the time has come to draw straws?
