Behind Th' Music

Mostly because I wanted to be able to effin' hear it I made this vocal/acoustic guitar/organ mix of "An Easy Winter".

I just want to be able to hear all th' vocals that take a million hours to track and then subsequently disappear in th' mist.

There's a section at the end of the last verse that is nine parts thick. It's cool.

I'm
telling you. About one and a half people including me will be really excited about this

Great, fun arrangement! I love this neo-Beach Boys stuff. (And what can I say? The consonants are dynamite.)

I guess more than 1.5 people care.

Reminds me of the kind of things that Kevin Gilbert, Matthew Sweet and The Beatles did - remade their own songs.

In this case it is remix - but you get my drift.

Gonna promote you over at newcritics.com next week unless Ned beats me to it.

After quite a few more listens I have to say I personally prefer this quieter version, purely for the emphasis it puts on the stunning harmony work - everything is Just So. Far, far beyond any vocal complexity i've ever heard in the Beach Boys.

Just so your can contemplate the life of your songs beyond your blog, i listened to this one four times in a row yesterday on my Mp3 Player standing waist-deep in the middle of the distressingly low Murrumbidgee River whilst trying to keep my earphone cord out of the water and wondering why on earth it is so blazingly hot in what is supposedly our Autumn.

Think about it, man. Your song has travelled to the other side of the globe, backed by the sound of running water and Kookaburras, as a herd of cattle gave me the evil eye along the bank.

That's got to be far more interesting than being the soundtrack to some ersatz Romeo and Juliet's first adolescent gropings at their local high school dance, as she tried to convince herself that his raging boner must means he thinks she is really beautiful.

If it's a choice between being an unknown or being the background to some fat feral's Wal-Mart shopping, i'll chose the former.
